AI Story Generation Guide
Turn your photos into beautifully written visual stories. Upload images, pick a tone, write a short prompt, and the AI handles the rest — analyzing each photo, choosing layouts, and writing a complete narrative.
How it works
Image analysis
The AI examines every photo — identifying scenes, mood, visual details, and how each image can serve the story.
Story writing
Using the analysis plus your prompt and tone, the AI writes a complete story with interspersed images, captions, and pull quotes.
Three ways to generate
Personal Story
Story editor → AI wizardUpload your own images, write a prompt, pick a tone. The generated blocks appear directly in your editor for further editing.
Org Story
Moment detail → AI Story buttonUses the moment's shared photos and member attribution. Creates a saved draft linked to the moment, crediting who uploaded each photo.
Gallery Layout
Moment detail → AI Gallery buttonNo writing — just intelligent photo curation. Creates a visual gallery with photo walls, parallax images, and section headings.
Automatic table of contents
When your published story contains two or more heading blocks, the reader page automatically generates navigation:
- 📑Inline contents list — appears below the story hero with clickable links to each section.
- ⚫Sidebar navigation dots — fixed on the left side of the screen (on wide displays). The active dot highlights as you scroll through each section. Hover to see the section name.
How to add it: Just insert heading blocks in the editor using the "+" button. No extra configuration is needed — the table of contents is derived from your headings at render time.
Note: Gallery-format stories and stories with fewer than 2 headings do not display a table of contents.
Choosing a tone
Narrative
Personal, first-person storytelling with emotional depth.
Best for: Travel journals, personal essays, family memories.
"I still remember the exact shade of turquoise the water turned as the tide retreated from the reef..."
Documentary
Factual, third-person observation. Lets the images speak for themselves.
Best for: Event coverage, team recaps, project documentation.
"The volunteers arrived before dawn, unloading supplies by headlamp as the first light broke over the ridge..."
Poetic
Lyrical and metaphor-rich. Focused on sensation, color, and imagery.
Best for: Landscapes, nature, art, atmospheric moments.
"Light pooled in the cobblestone cracks like spilled honey, and the old walls hummed with a warmth that had nothing to do with the sun..."
Journalistic
Clear, informative writing with a strong story angle.
Best for: Nonprofit work, community events, cultural reporting.
"What started as a weekend cleanup has grown into a movement — 200 volunteers, 12 tons of waste removed, and a coastline visibly transformed..."
Prompt examples
The prompt is optional — the AI will work with just your photos. But a short prompt helps it understand context it cannot see in the images.

Tips for better prompts
Give context the AI cannot see
The AI sees the photos but doesn't know who the people are or what the occasion is.
"This was my grandmother's 90th birthday"Mention the location and time
Helps the AI set the scene with accurate details.
"December trip to Marau, Bahia"Say what you want to emphasize
Without direction, the AI gives equal weight to everything.
"Focus on the food and the cooking process"Describe the feeling you want
Guides the tone beyond just the tone selector.
"Capture the sense of calm and disconnection"Keep it brief — 1 to 3 sentences
The AI works better with concise direction than long instructions.
"Family road trip through the Italian coast. Keep it light and fun."Limits
